Résidence

Résidence puts a living and working space at the disposal of artists from abroad.

By inviting artists from other countries to Brussels, Résidence wants to introduce the creative work and tested methods of other European cities in Brussels, and through that contribute to new ways of of looking at the metropolis. Besides that, it also wants to strengthen existing and create new links in the network of artists concerned with the city. There are two types of residences: contact-residencies – allows for inviting artists interested in Brussels to come over, work, and present their work to the Brussels’ audience- and research-residencies – over a longer period of time artists come over to study a specific theme, which can lead to a new project.

Participants in 2004 were: Stéphanie Regnier from Bordeaux (F), who mapped out the extra-territorial spaces of Brussels (international institutions, embassies, EU, NATO); Marie-Charlotte Moreau from Grenoble (F), researched in different methods of debating; RotoR / Vahida Ramujkic and Laia Sadurní from Barcelona (S) developed a game around the strategies of speculators and residents; and Maren Grimm from Hamburg (D) exchanged information about negotiating strategies to obtain vermissing to a building.
